I woke up last Sunday feeling so happy and this song’s lyrics playing in my head. “Home is heaven. One day, Lord, I will live in Your courts.” Waking up with that thought is one of the best things ever :)

Later that day, I went to attend Christ’s Commission Fellowship’s Sunday worship service for the first time at their new center at Ortigas. Their guest speaker was Nick Vujicic. Yep, that cool dude without limbs yet he still seems to be the happiest person alive :)

He said this one thing that had a huge impact on me:

Do not let your brokenness define your future.

That single line alone reminded me of so many things. All of us have our own version of brokenness. Weaknesses that eat us alive. Struggles that kill our desire to continue living. But these should not hinder us from hoping for something bigger! Because God’s proposing us a bright future. Yes, surrendering to God doesn’t guarantee an easy life here in earth… But surrendering to Him guarantees an eternal joyful life with Him in His courts. And that’s where our real home at.

What’s so special about heaven anyway? Allow me to share some teasers from the Bible :)

1. God has personally prepared our place in His kingdom.

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? - John 14:2

Remember that it is God who created the sun, stars, the planets, the oceans, even you yourself… He has done these beautiful things. Surely, His mansions are way better than man-built houses here! :)

2. Sadness will not exist anymore.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. - Revelation 21:4

Here’s our victory! :)

3. Our own bodies will receive transformation.

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. - Philippians 3:20,21

Now, that’s definitely an instant free makeover that not even the best surgeon in the world can do!

4. We will receive our rewards <3

Let us not become weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. - Galatians 6:9

Rejoice and be glad because great is your reward in heaven. - Matthew 5:12

Nothing is in vain if it’s a work for the Lord. No matter how difficult it is and we feel like we’re not appreciated, God keeps a record and He is preparing the rewards He will give :)

5. Even the darkness shall be no more and we can worship God forever and ever… without anyone persecuting us! :) 

No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun for the Lord God will give them light. And they reign for ever and ever. - Revelation 22:3-5

Unlimited presence of God… I think that’s all we need <3

Nick Vujicic is looking forward to having hands and feet when he reaches heaven. I am looking forward to seeing God’s face and singing Him praises. How about you, what are you looking forward to? Whatever that is, God can even give you something better and bigger than that!

Keep the faith. Finish the race. Endure all the hardships. Take heart. Trust God. Every day we are getting closer to our real home :)
